You are totally right!
I think that this may the future for television, channel brands will just turn into strong ones of these. I really hope that a company like seachange (Liberate), UPC or Open TV takes on the idea and does something with it

This will fly: its just who does it properly first. If I could set up a channel, which would have lots of existing content (that i chose) perhaps some contect taken at random from pools of content (by meta-tag), as well as content that I make, I would be well up for this. So also would be:
- enthusiasts from all subjects
- every teenager
- every band

It could actually even have benefits for society, eg the possibility of having, (a personal example) a Kingston-upon-thames Transition Town channel, which members could contribute to, but would appeal a large swathe of kingston dwellers.

People would upload clips of best performances of themselves in real life (the gym, driving, pissing about with mates, etc) and virtual (best lap times, most xbox gamer points, etc etc)

Since I posted this I have noticed that there are a few things around, TIVO has one and so does Philips, but they all present the user experience as a bolt on to TV. My idea is fundamentally different. Simply stated ... it is to put the audience in complete control.

Does that make any sense?
